Remembrance Sunday Donation

01

December 2021

At the end of November Ilton Parish Council were able to present a cheque for £820 to the Royal British Legion. This was raised by the amazing generosity of the people of Ilton who sponsored the soldier silhouettes at £30 each raising £570, who ate breakfast in the Village Hall on Remembrance Sunday which raised another £160 and who donated to a collection on Sunday morning raising another £90. A total of £820. Thanks go to all those who donated and to those who co-ordinated the event including Grahame Mackenzie-Green and his team who organised the Memorial Cross and the soldier silhouettes, to Jacqueline Bennett and her team who provided the breakfasts, and to Kate Cameron and her team who organised the collection. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible and to all the people of lIlton for their generosity.

Home Library Service

05

November 2021

Did you know Somerset libraries offer a Home Library Service to individuals who cannot access the library due to ill health, mobility or caring reasons?

Our volunteers will choose and deliver books to you on a regular basis. If you or anyone you know might be interested in volunteering or receiving this service please contact the Home Library Manager on tel: 07814 079831 or email at KJenssen@somerset.gov.uk who will be happy to help you .”

The way in which the service works is:

When an individual contacts us we will arrange for a volunteer to visit you. They will ask you what you like to read and the best times to visit you, usually on a fortnightly or monthly basis.

The volunteer will choose books based on your preferences and deliver them to you .

Our volunteers can also support you in accessing free-e- book, e – audiobooks and e-magazines. They can provide you with audio books and DVDs for free.

All our volunteers are DBS checked and have provided references and undertaken training.

BROOK GREEN

17

September 2021

Brook Green

We know that a lot of people like to give their dogs a good run off the lead. Dogs have to be kept on a lead on the Playing Field because a lot of people who use the Field, many children included, are not comfortable with dogs running free. The Field is used by many people for walking and for sport and keeping your dog on a lead means it is easier to pick up after the dog and deposit the bag in the bin provided.

Brook Green is a large semi wild area with no livestock and no restrictions on dogs running free. It is close to the village at the end of Rod Lane. There are picnic benches, trees and a stream running through what is a lovely wooded common.

Please use this area if you wish to exercise your dog off the lead.

AND PLEASE PLEASE PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG AND DEPOSIT THE PARCEL IN THE BIN PROVIDED. DOG FAECES CAUSES DISEASE, AS WELL AS BEING UNPLEASANT.
